Ramblings from the Dark Side of the Moon
And if the band you're in
('Brain Damage', Roger Waters/Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon, 1973)
[A poem for Mothers]
The nurturer spreads her wings,
protecting the nest
with her love,
for one more night.
It has been a long journey
and she is tired. But,
the nestlings are safe, knowing
the nurturer is always near.
The winds of life are not always favorable.
Free flight is not always free.
One can only fly as high
as the spirit allows.
Soon, the nest will be empty
as new journeys begin.
It is the way of life,
as inevitable as the sunrise.
The nurturer will never be far.
Her wings, as strong as they are,
pale in comparison
with the strength of the heart.
